Hello world!

I have no doubt that in reality the future will be vastly more surprising than anything I can imagine. Now my own suspicion is that the Universe is not only stranger than we imagine, but queerer than we can imagine.

like most geeks, I am interested in future technologies and frequently read up on it. I find it amazing that in the past decennia technology has progressed so fast we can now have an amazing understanding of genomics and with new techniques we can synthetically create bacteria, cut HIV out of the human genome and create three-parent babies.
With advancement in the field of Medicine blind people can see again with a bionic eye, bionic limbs can be controlled by the brain and it is somewhat possible to control somebody else’s arm with your brain (how cool is that).
Virtual Reality has also become reality and Google’s self-driving cars have already driven 1.6 million km’s and probably will slowly be introduced to the public. Wearable technologies are becoming more common place and changing the way humans live in a subtle and unnoticable way.
In the world of A.I. it is already old news that IBM’s Watson can beat humans at jeopardy and IBM is now aiming to provide better medical diagnosis than human doctors, or to become the best business consultant. Although Watson is the most famous A.I. it is not the only one; all major companies plus a dozen startups are in a race to produce the next Watson-like A.I. It seems that A.I. is going to be ubiquitous  in the future and most of our lives will be determined by algorithms.
And In the mean time Elon Musk wants to put a million people on mars. So what the hell is going on?

One of the biggest sci-fi writers Arthur C. Clarke has stated that “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
I wonder how far be have to go back before current technology will be considered magic. I’m guessing not that far back 🙂

If you have heard of Clarke’s third law, you probably also know the second law:
“The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.”

So stick with me and lets venture into the impossible together 🙂
